Crete Blessing

The following prayer is based on the Friday Blessing of Ffald-y-Brenin, a Christian retreat and conference venue in Pembrokeshire, Wales.  The Lord has been doing remarkable things there and I encourage you to visit its web site

I have adapted the Friday Blessing so that it applies to Crete.  I encourage you to pray this prayer along with me.  Where I  have referred to my region, the Apokoronas, substitute your own…

Heavenly Father, we take upon ourselves the mantle of authority that Jesus delegates to His disciples and in His name we speak to the nation of Greece, the island of Crete and the locality of the Apokoronas in which we reside.

We bless you in the name of The Lord.

We bless the Government of this nation that it will rule with wisdom, justice, integrity and righteousness and we bless the nation to be at one with the Government through the difficult economic times.

We speak to the Orthodox Church and we say we bless you in the name of The Lord that the Holy Spirit and the Word of God may flow out from you in power.  We bless the archbishop, the bishops and papas that they may be drawn ever closer into Your presence and that they would lead their congregations with wisdom and spiritual understanding.  We bless all who attend Orthodox Church services, whether regularly or casually, that their hearts may be quickened to hear and respond to the Voice of the Living God.  We bless the relationships between the Orthodox Church, Catholic Church and Protestant Church on this island, that relationships will grow and thrive and be fruitful for the sake of Your Kingdom here.

We speak to every household in the Apokoronas region and bless you in the Name of The Lord.  We bless your marriages and family life.  We bless your health that you may be strong and well and to any who are sick, we bless you with a speedy recovery.  We bless your wealth that you may have plenty, enough to live and enough to give away.  We bless the work of your hands that whatever is wholesome may be profitable.  We bless the care and stewardship of the land that it may flourish.

We pray that this land, this island, this region, our community may be blessed with the knowledge of the presence of Jesus Christ and a sense of knowing that He blesses you.  We pray that every household will know Him as Lord and Saviour and have an ever deepening faith and relationship with Him.  We bless you with a sense of thankfulness for all His blessing and we bless you that you may know His calling, purpose and potential for your life and grow into all that He desires for you.

when I was in Crete back in 1988 i felt led by the Holy spirit to pray for revival and a move by god to happen on the island. I was travelling on a bus near Agious Nicolious ( spelt it wrong) and in my spirit I saw a large ball of fire like a meteor hurtling passed round the island. It seemed significant and when staying with my friend at Sitea I felt the Holy Spirit was going to desend like a dove .
