Catholic Church Chania

The Roman Catholic Church in Chania meets in the town centre at Halidon 46, the road that leads from 1866 Square down to the harbour front, in a beautiful building just set back from the main frontage.

The church serves an international congregation and services are conducted in several languages, including English, though I haven’t been able to confirm this. I understand that parts, at least, of the services are conducted in English. For Mass times please see the link below.

Services at 7.00pm on Saturdays and 10.00am on Sundays

From 1866 Square in the centre of Chania, head down to the harbour front, down Halidon street (the one lined with all the clothes and jewellery stores). About half-way down on your left hand side you’ll see the Catholic Church of Chania – a beautiful old building just set back from the road (not to be confused with the large Greek Orthodox church on the right).

The Saturday night mass is said and sung almost completely in English with the occasional Latin prayer. On Sunday the mass is said in Greek but at least one hymn is in English. This morning we had one English hymn, one Greek, one seemed to be in Filipino and then one in Polish. All are very friendly.
